I have a 3 digit serial Klon with Gold Horsey built in 1995. Comes with the box, and all the paper work.

I am looking for cash. Would be willing to trade for a boutique or vintage amp. Simply put KLON in the email subject or I will take it as spam.

I freely admit I'm out of touch with the pedal world. My typical signal chain goes something like: Guitar -> Switchcraft plug -> ~8 feet of Belden cable -> Switchcraft plug -> Amplifier.

Not typically, no. The Klon situation is... well, it's kind of the only pedal where the inflation of epic proportions has happened. That I can think of, anyway. Analogman Sunlions were going for $400-500 a while ago, King of Tone's aren't too far off that either, there's a steady market on original vintage Fuzz Faces and Tonebenders, and the original Rangemasters and TS808's, and obviously a few limited number boutique builds, but nothing like $1600 for a pedal.

Hype, limited number available, the incredibly delayed release of the new version of the Centaur, hype, celebrity association, hype, "mojo" (or certain other intangible things), hype and it's fans would say tone are all the contributing factors for the Klon thing. It's basically the Dumble of pedals.

Is an overdrive "worth" that much? Depends how much $1600 is worth to you, I suppose.

Vintage big muffs go for less than half, but at one point were up in the $2000 range

A Klon is a status symbol (kinda like my Cadillac, but not nearly as cool :lol:).
