Ok everyone I need help with an acoustic Dean Markley Promag Grand sound hole pickup. It worked recently but now when I plug it into an amp it doesn't amplify the guitar and just gives a sort of hum. My questions are what could be the problem (I'm guessing bad wire connections somewhere, but I'm not sure) and what would the solution be? If you need more info on the problem just ask and thanks everyone for your time.

The first place I'd look is at the plug end that goes into the amp. That's the most likely place for a broken wire. After that an ohms check directly into the pup to see if it's bad.

I don't think opening up this pup is possible

Best way to trouble shoot these- Cut about six inches off the cable at the plug end. Reinstall plug. If it still doesn't work, chuck it in the nearest trash bin. Those things are pretty much disposable.

Do you have any replacement pickup suggestions because it looks like I won't be able to fix it. (I've tried almost everything I could find on the web)

Hellomusic.com has the fishman rare earth single coil soundhole pickup for $65 new today. I've used an older version with great results for a year. High quality, highly recommend.

This might be met with jeers, but I A/B'ed a few and came home with a Bill Lawrence FT-145, the cheesy looking one with the metal bendy-brace. Biggest, warmest output of those I tried and a very low price. I'm happy with it!
