Im building a tele from maple, i wannt a natural or blonde thin coat finish ( so the grain can still be seen.
Do i need to use a sanding sealer before painting and or clear coats.

You dont need "sanding" sealer. Any finish you apply will seal the wood. You can use your clear as a sealer.

I always use a vinyl sealer under nitro finishes. If you are using maple though, you can simply sand the wood to about 320 or 400 and spray a few light coats of lacquer. It will come out very nice, and thin.
