I have vintage v100 + crate fw 15r.

I don't like overdride effect from my amps, as it's too "hard rock-ish" for me.

Hendrix is using a univibe pedal very heavily in that song. It is an old phaser with a very specific sounding cycle and is meant to emulate a leslie rotating speaker cabinet.

The dead weather guitar sounds like there is some fuzz involved, but both of these artists are relying on fuzz combined with the amps natural distortion for a very saturated sound. Hendrix used a fuzz face.
