pairing an ebony fingerboard with neck

i really like the idea on an ebony finger board. is it customary to pair a "bright" fingerboard wood, such as ebony or maple with a "dark" neck wood? i.e., if i were to get ebony, should i avoid the maple neck and go for mahogany, or something similar?

Most would worry about pickups and amp. And if your ebony neck is too bright, turn the TREBLE pot on the amp a touch counterclockwise. :wink:

Ebony on maple isn't all that different from maple on maple, or one piece maple.

I got to play a custom 50's type tele with an ebony fingerboard. it sounded like any regular maple necked tele. Felt a littel different, but mainly it was just cosmetic.
