Getting going on old pine Tele (esquire) assembly... (first time)

Got some more parts yesterday... neck and plate, bridge and saddles. Went with a Mighty Mite 2905 neck, I'm fairly impressed with it. Keep in mind this is my first build, and I'm a fairly new guitar player... :) But it looks nice. Yeah, the tuner holes aren't 10mm, though, which I had read on here. More like 10.75mm or so. Took four wraps of masking tape on the tuners for a nice fit. From my research on here...thanks guys... it sounds like I should have the 'e' strings on when I go to drill the neck, so I figured I might as well start with mounting the tuners. I'm not planning on leaving the masking tape on the tuners, but I'm not sure what to do here? Aluminum tape? New tuners? :) I hope not. Filling in the holes somehow, maybe?

The tape works nicely to keep everything aligned. I just pressed on the tuner with my thumbs to leave two marks for drilling.

My parts list so far...
-reclaimed barn pine body
-Dimarzio Area Hot T pickup
-Fender vintage bridge/Hipshot compensated saddles
-Fender neck plate
-Mighty Mite M2905 22 fret (newer model?) neck
-Fender American Standard tuners (Schaller)
