if you are just doing it as a hobby like me & do not have storage or a big enough house to own a spray gun what kind of clear can finish do you recomend thats local? I see Ace hardware sells a poly can & 2 kinds of Laquor...watco & ace brand...question is what kind of laqour is it????
will both kinds still need 30 days to fully cure? also, is the mini wax stuff at home depot any good for laqour or poly? ive read online that stuff turns yellow.... I dont see Nitro local so thats out but i did see an ebay seller selling cans for about 10 bucks with shipping....also, if I choose a duplicolor enamil for my bass coat under the finish will it matter? can you spray any of the above over enamil???Im really liking this green below for a base coat with my next guitar body that i am currently cutting...

Watco is nitro I believe. Do a search on " lacquer over enamel" because I'm far from expert on this. I know it works over poly. At least thirty days for a nitrocellulose lacquer cure. Anyway, there's infinity stuff on this .

Watco & Minwax both make good rattlecan lacquers. Yes, they are both nitrocellulose lacquer. If you go with Minwax, make sure you get the black can that says "LACQUER" in really big letters. If it doesn't say lacquer on the can then it's probably poly. They will both yellow over time. The good thing is they both dry pretty hard, unlike Deft, which seems to stay soft forever. Although I don't use rattlecans anymore, when I did I would wetsand & polish in 1-2 weeks with either Watco or Minwax. Never had any problems.
