anticlimactic

Hi, my name's Adam. I'm twentysomething, from Chicago, and have been playing guitar for almost twenty years...since i was little. I used to (foolishly, IMHO) be into Gibsons, until one day I just came to my senses and got into Fenders. I've had 5 or 6 Strats and one Tele before, all which have since been liquidated.
Before we get into the actual guitars, a little bit more about myself and my musical style: I am primarily a rhythm guitarist. I went through my phases where my playing became all about flash and flair, and unnecessary speed. Now, I prefer the textures and sonic landscapes of well executed rhythm guitar. My biggest influences are John Frusciante and Johnny Marr.
I just got my first Telecaster last Monday. 9 days later I got my second. My first was found on craigslist. It's a 2007 Fender Joe Strummer Tele. It's basically an MIM 60's Classic, all distressed. The previous owner also changed out the bridge for a modern 6-saddle (string through), swapped in some Kluson tuners, and included a hardshell case for $25. I took the pickguard off to make it even uglier. This guitar is so poppy and snappy and responsive. It just sounds ALIVE.
The new one is a 2011 FSR of some sort. It has an alder body, BIG FAT 'C' neck a la 50's Classic Tele/Esquire, with a 9.5" radius maple board (Classic Player?), BRASS saddled 3-saddle bridge (string through), Vintage Noiseless pickups, some weird wiring I can't yet figure out. It had three key features I was looking for:
- maple board
- FAT 'C' neck
- string through
Both get played through the same amp, a Peavey 5150 212 combo. Ruby/Electro Harmonix tubes, Eminence speakers on their way, and ALWAYS played through the LOW gain input. No pedals yet. Just raw Telecaster into 5150.
I plan on picking up some sort of USB interface soon and Amplitube, etc. so I will soon do a direct A/B recording of the two Telecasters.
But, long story short, hello hello. I'm glad I finally went all Tele and am happy to be here.
