volume pot doesnt fully drop volume

Hi, i'm fairly new to the forum and I have a little issue with my "hot rodded" axe. My volume pot doesn't completely shut off my guitar's signal. Rolled back to zero, it almost is like a tone knob except its just a little quieter and darker tone wise. I also get a little hum, and they're humbuckers so I shouldn't. Thanks for any help, Thunder4902 edit:I put this in the stratocaster forum because its a strat. And tel-technical said telecaster only.
