TBird June 13th, 2012, 07:24 PM So it's here!! Finally here! I've been meaning to get in to lap steel for a while now, and finally found what I was looking for. I'm too excited that it's here and in better condition than I was expecting, so this post will be short. I have a 50's (not sure of exact year, will check soon) Fender Dual Pro 8. A double neck lap steel!! Came in a tweed case, classic Fender aged blonde/yellow, slight checking in finish but it just makes it look so much better. And a leather bag for picks/tone bar with JR engraved on it... Anyone know a JR? Handle on case is broken, but I don't care! Here's some pics.
rhythmjones June 13th, 2012, 08:57 PM Awesome!
Tred June 13th, 2012, 09:07 PM Kewl beans!
Zillinois June 14th, 2012, 12:54 AM lovely!
rosett June 14th, 2012, 01:14 AM What a coincidence! My initials are JR.
I have a '51 that started life as a triple-neck, but had a meeting with a band saw at some point in it's life. It's a great guitar, and I love playing it. Congratulations!
Westerly Sunn June 14th, 2012, 05:22 AM Wow! That's sweet...
Congrats... on it showing up!
Mightyaxeman June 14th, 2012, 05:50 AM That's in incredible condition. Looks brand new. I had to have the pickups rebuilt on mine but mine is refinished and in way worse shape. They sound awesome. You'll love it.
RevMike June 14th, 2012, 08:00 AM From a playing standpoint....I wouldn't have a clue what to do with it. But DANG! It sure is nice to look at. That is a beauty! Congratulations.
gearhead1972 June 14th, 2012, 08:10 AM Jerry Reed ever play lap steel?

Did you ever own this guitar?
But that's bad news bears about that bandsaw. I'll keep mine away, cause I don't want two single necks.

Not that I know of. I've been trying to think of other pros that have those initials. All I came up with is Jr. Brown, but it's 'J.R.' on the bag, so that rules him out...

Well, it's not so bad. I got it REALLY cheap, and if you didn't know, you wouldn't be able to tell. Besides, two necks are enough for me, and it's heavy enough as it is.

Well if you ever don't want it I'd be happy with it too. And yes, two necks are enough. I've only been playing for a few days now, but I had one neck tuned to E13, and I had no idea what to do. C6 seems rather easy to pick up, but it will still take a long time to master, but any 13 tuning... Huh? I had no clue what to do. So for the moment, I'd be fine with one neck, but I think it'll be nice to have a second tuning once I've been at it for a while.
And I took the tuning pan out, and it's dated 11/29/51. Nice.
Icepick June 17th, 2012, 01:24 PM Very cool.
A local musician here in Houston named Bart Maloney plays I believe the same model, but I think his is a '54.
tele salivas June 20th, 2012, 08:27 AM Oh man, that is sweet. Really fine condition. Love that color and the slant of the pup covers. Score!
FiddlinJim June 20th, 2012, 10:07 AM Welcome to the club! I've got a Fender Pro D-6 (refinished, some replaced parts), and a D-8 56 Stringmaster.
