Stock string gauges - Fender Modern Player Tele

Hi

I bought one of the cheap Chinese Fenders a while back for slide. I didn't want to mess with the actions on my other guitars.

The stock strings work well enough except for High E string on the bottom. They feel like .009s to me but I'm a piano player. I want to increase the of the E string gauge one step.

I thought I would jump to a .010 unless the stock gauge is already .010 then I would use an .011. I want to go as light as I can because ... I play like a sissy.

Does anyone know what Fender put on these things in the factory. It is the one with the Humbucker in the bridge and tele neck pickup with a strat looking pickup in the middle. I can attached a picture someone took of me a couple of weeks ago playing it if that helps but I'm fat and not very good looking

Thanks.

Thanks for making me laugh out loud. Funny post!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure those are 9s on there, from playing a whole bunch of them.

Give some 10s a try.

You know, I think I'd pull those strings and replace them no matter what guage they were. There's no telling where Farida got those strings; they were bought cheap, and I'd treat 'em as placeholders anyway. I'm actually hoping to play some restrung Modern Players. To give them another evaluation.

If the guitar is for slide I would just jump up to .11's anyway.. unless I'm missing something..?

It isn't for pure slide use. Sort of for hybrid use where I jump between slide and fretting stuff like Lotta Boot Left to Fill mostly modern country where I am forced to use a slide.

The strings suck do suck but I figured they would be Fender Bullets. (If Fender still makes them, I don't know I never like Fender Strings that much)

Also the shielding, the jack and jack plate suck also. Oddly the pickups seem adequate for what I am doing. But the guitar cost less than $400.

It has a nice paint job and I liked the feel of the neck.

Thanks

I have a MP Tele Thinline Deluxe and the first thing I did was to change the strings to 11s. The stock ones are 9s and they feel like rubber bands.
