A message for the UK TDPRIers really, has anyone seen, played or bought a 2012 american standard stratocaster yet?
My local music shop reckons they'll get them in by the end of the month. Any ideas as to why it's taking so long to get these guitars in stock? When did Fender actually release them for sale:?:
Thanks....

I've seen a few in stock online at Andertons.
Everywhere has the 2008 spec Strats reduced now. I'd probably rather have 69s in mine rather than Fat 50s, and I don't like aged knobs that much so I was happy to pick one of those up recently.

Matthias, that's interesting that you say that, what do you prefer about the previous model pups over the CS50s?
From what I can see, the only changes, spec wise, are different pups (which can be easily changed!!) and aged parts. Other than that it seems a good deal to buy the 2008 models for £150.00 less than the 2012.

Well, the stock 2008-2011 pups are very high quality but I don't know if they're staying in forever. What I mean is if I have Custom Shop pups, I'd probably go for the 69s. I got a little bit more than £150 off mine plus a decent trade-in, so even if I decide to put Fat 50s in, I've still saved a few quid. :D
And I haven't had to spend money replacing the aged parts!

thanks Matthias, I decided to go for it and purchase the older model. I figured that if i don't like the pickups i can just swap them out for something of my own choice and still at least break even on the price difference.
