What's this plastic peice that came with my Vibrato Arm?

Just bought a jazzmaster and I don't know.

Is it a little green cylindrical piece of plastic about 1/8-in long? I bought a vibrato arm off ebay and that came in the package. I'm puzzled as well. Am about to put it in the vibrato arm hole to see if it snugs up the arm.

I think that's a bushing for firming up the tremolo arm. Someone try it out and let us know!

What piece are you talking about? I have a CP Jazzy and never saw that piece.

Could also to be to lock out/stabilize the trem-bar for shipping...

I put the plastic peice in the tremolo hole and it appears to make the tremolo arm more stable. It now rests close to my picking hand as opposed to simply falling and rotating based on gravity.

That's what they are using in place of the little tremolo arm spring that always gets lost.

I seriously doubt that it's meant to be a "keeper" piece of the guitar. You'd think that even if you're only paying $300 for a Squire... who wants a green thing around their trem. arm as a "finished part" when they could make it black or change the tremolo to just be more stable... AND being that it's bright green I think that's to indicate something like: "Hey remember to remove me before you start playing"... If, as folks are saying, it holds the trem. arm "steadier" and in place then I'm pretty much positive it's for shipping purposes. That said, if it's not gonna mess anything up, play away

Cheers

Dave

Arm spring?

Arm springs. Goes in the hole before inserting the trem arm.

Not on a Jazzmaster. There you just pop the trem arm in. Mine didn't come up with a green piece of plastic but I made my trem arm stabler by half a round of clear tape wrapped around the trem arm.

I'll be darn...I learn something every day. In 33 years and 5 strats I've never seen one.

Do they work, I mean, do they help eliminate that wiggle stick slop?

Poor man's method of doing this is the teflon tape you use for plumbing work. Just wrap the threads of the bar and screw it in. Works great.

Oh, I missed the jazzmaster part.
Yes they kinda work. Not for the play so much but to keep the arm from flopping around.

DO THIS... so much simpler, cleaner looking and most importantly effective
