Back in 1988 (If I remember correctly) I had a custom Strat made at a place called 48th Street Custom Guitars in NYC. It was owned or at least affiliated with ESP and was right across the street from Rudy's Music Stop.
Back then there weren't all the Fender reissue guitar models there are today, so I went to them to get '62 vintage style Strat made.
It's mostly/all ESP Japanese parts with a build as follows:
Vintage white color (off white)
Tortoise pickguard
Vintage frets and radius
Slab rosewood board on maple medium C 60's profile neck
Aged amber neck finish
Vintage syle tuners
It's a really nice strat, plays great, and is nearly mint except for a few small dings. It's also aged nicely so it looks more like like an old one now, the pickup covers have yellowed, body has yellowed a bit, etc. The fit and finish on this guitar is excellent, as the guys at that shop were experienced builders. Some have gone on to be quite well known in NYC.
I ended up playing mostly Gibsons and Teles for the past 20 years, so this one never got much use. I'd like to sell it, but no idea what something like this is worth. I think I paid around $800 for it new back in '88.
I couldn't find any info on the net about these guitars. Anyone here have an idea of what might be a fair asking price?
Thanks
