I'm new! Telecaster Project

Hi folks! I'm new here and need some advise... I'm considering to start a Telecaster Project, and I was checking Telecaster replacement bodies, necks, etc on e-bay. As I'm currently living in Ukraine the cost of delivery of the parts will considerably increase the final expenditures with the guitar, and probably it'll take sometime to have the guitar "working". I read some threads about using a Squier Telecaster (Afinnity or other models) as a base for a Telecaster project - I could gradually make changes on it, as pickups, bridge, etc...
Do you think it is a good idea? It'll be my first project and I think that it could be a good experience, on the other hand is it worth doing it? I mean, I know that it probably will not sound as a "Custom Store Tele", but can I get a nice tone? What are your experiences/suggestions?
Thanks a lot!

Hi
A Squier standard would be a better base, you will get through stringing, and also some early affinities are plywood.

I agree with Chris and Frank.Buy a good Squire and you could buy some good pickups ( Keystones) and learn how to wire them.Welcome, your written English is excellent right down to the quotation marks for emphasis. Cheers from Downunder where postage costs is an issue. Terry.

Thanks, Terry! I was just checking the price of a good Squire here in Kiev and the difference is not that big, so I may get one soon! I'm planning to go to a shop this week and put my hands on some Teles to check how it feels... My home country has high postage costs as well, I'm Brazilian... I must say that Ukraine is a bit better on this matter, but not perfect... anyway, nobody/nowhere is perfect, isn't it? Cheers!
