wood glue ferreldjangoRobinson June 11th, 2012, 03:51 AM Hi all. I got a repair done to the bridge of my rosewood tele. it involved gluing and some has seep down to the low E Ferrel. Id like to remove it now. but its stuck tight. any ideas. thanks all Jupiter June 11th, 2012, 04:44 AM I'm trying to picture what you'd glue on a tele bridge.... djangoRobinson June 11th, 2012, 05:29 AM snapped bridge screw. cut out and plugged up with a round piece of rosewood. Mightyaxeman June 11th, 2012, 05:43 AM A hot soldering iron to heat up the ferrel enough to un stick it, then push it out and re - drill the hole to clean it up. Mightyaxeman June 11th, 2012, 05:46 AM Does this guitar have a finish on it? If so be careful with the soldering iron. Don't leave it in place to long. Be careful pushing the ferrel out so as to not disturb the finish. djangoRobinson June 11th, 2012, 07:08 AM dont have no finish yet djangoRobinson June 14th, 2012, 05:27 PM got it done no bother. thanks for the tips. ya all. boy that glue stinks when its heated up. lol Vizcaster June 16th, 2012, 09:57 AM If the body isn't finished, I wouldn't have installed the ferrules yet. After the finish is on, clean out any huge gobs of finish in there but don't worry about getting all of it out, then press the ferrules in while heating them to soften the finish, and they'll slide right into place. Most of the challenge build threads have photos of this part of the process. djangoRobinson June 16th, 2012, 11:20 AM its not getting a finish. it gets a coat of rosewood wax every 6 month. |
