I just got the Excelsior Wednesday and I can't believe how good this thing is for the price I paid for it. It has such a full sound even at home practice volumes.

Anyway, I recorded my first song using the Excelsior for all the guitar parts. I usually use a Dr. Z Maz 18, but i have to admit, that for recording purposes, the Excelsior holds its own. All my pedals sound great through this thing too. I got a really good lead tone, so stick around at least till the solo section. I am running Ego Comp > Ecstacy> EP Booster> Montavillian for the lead tone. I have the tone switch on the Excelsior set to "dark" and the volumes is only at about 10:30.

Here is the link to the song "HonkyTonk Disneyland". If you have ever gigged around Nashville hoping to "make it", you'll really get this song. Its definitely one of those tounge in cheek type country songs, but unfortunately I lived this one back in 2009, 2010.

SO y'all need to go test drive the Excelsior if your looking for a new versatile amp. I love mine. Best value out there in my opinion. $299.00!!!!! THere are already mods out there for it too, but i am going to keep it stock, it sounds good enough for me.

Yeah, don't let the anti-Excelsior league get you down, most of them haven't tried one. It's a nice little amp, with a pretty big sound.
That's a great sound you got Wally Pedals, and a really impressive board. More improtantly, you know how to use it. Twang on!

Again Wally, GREAT voice, nice song/writing, and i can not believe that tone is comming from a budget amp that is supposed to sound like a budget amp from the 50's.

What pedals did you us for dirt if i may ask ?

I listened to all your other songs too - i like it !

Thanks s a lot for listening to my songs! I am trying to make something happen with it this time around.

I have a bunch of pedals I use to get my sounds from.... But what I like best with the Excelsior is this:

Wampler ego compressor -- Wampler paisley drive or ecstasy -- Xotic Ep booster-- Catalinbread Montavillian Echo.

Usually for recording, I will add delay and reverb in the mix, unless I want a slap back or that U2 Edge sound. For longer delays and modulation, I use both TC electronics Flashback Delay and Hall of fame reverb. I record all the guitar with an e609 mic.

I have to say that I really am surprised how good certain amps record. My favorite recording amp is my Dr. z Maz 18 because it is so versatile. But I have a little Fender champ 600 that cost $129.99 that's sounds great for clean tones. I also have the vox ac4 that records very well too. The last 2 songs i recorded I have used the excelsior for everything. I really love that thing. I sounds so full playing in the room with it because of the 15" speaker. I can't recommend it enough. That and Wampler pedals!

Thanks again for listening

. . . ^ ^ ^ thanks a million for sharring your secrets Wally !

Much appreciated.
Please keep us updated on any new material/songs/instrumentals.
I was about to pull the trigger on the Champ 600, when i saw a clip on Youtube of the Excelsior, and that was it.

Can not wait to get my Excelsior, come mid-July.
I have a fair amount of pedals to try with this new lil Fender.
