Any mandolin players out there? I picked up a mandolin from the local guitar shop in Mena called Sessions, after I played my friends mandolin a bit. Mine is a Hohner, I've had it for a year now. It compliments my guitar collection nicely, and I love to play it when I'm not wanting to shred on an electric guitar or play my acoustic. It's a very nice mandolin, brand new when I got it.

Oh, yes. I am mandocrazy. My main acoustic is a Collings MF-5V, electric is a Schwab mandocaster, Jones octave mandolin, german bowlback, late 1980's Kentucky KM1000 (for sticky outdoor gigs).

Nice color Accused Nut :)

I got my first mandolin 2 days ago! I'm starting to get used to the neck, and its a joy!

It's an electric Morgan. Not so expensive, not so cheap, I think its a good beginners mandolin.

Heres a little video of me playing it as well. Not that good at tremolo yet. Just noodling around, and really enjoying the sound of this instrument.

Thanks! I've gotten decent at it. I may make a video at some point. I like the looks of yours. Hows it play? What kind of music do you play on it?

Sign me up. I love playing mandolin. I've been playing it for almost thirty years, almost as long as I've been playing guitar. I don't currently own a mando, though. Gotta work on that.

Well, for now its mostly the music you hear in the video I posted, and it sound good with some reverb on clean tubes :)

I'm thinking of mixing some music soon, and then I want to play some choppy mandolin rythm, and see how that blends with the tele, and maybe my acoustic. I will post some songs in this thread once I get around to it.

delivery tomorrow of the rogue mando/guitar set from MF for $79.99, free shipping. wasn't too interested in the guitar, but, what the hey.

have plunked a little mando before, and played quite a bit of mandocello.

i got this cheapy mando as an experiment : i'm gonna just glue me a leftover squier single-coil right to the top of it and plug 'er up.

Are Mando builders welcome. Anyone into 5 strings ? Here's a couple of my latest. The white one I built for my brother, and the red one I just sold. Couple more on the bench.

That'd be interesting to hear! I may have a go at that as well when I'm back home.

got that rogue mando today. can't really find anything to complain about much yet, it tuned up and makes mando noise. kinda tinny sounding, but that is prolly because the bridge only contacts the top in three little places, you can plainly see daylight under 90% of it. a little sand paper and i'll get some wood sound in there.

but what wood ? look inside (the thing is finished black) and the wood is very plain and almost as white as a sheet of paper. i don't think i've got experience with it.

Could it be some kind of pine?
