No bender for me!!!

An old injury and a displaced C5 vertebra has messed my up.

Because the disc is pushed to the right, using the bender causes pain in my neck and numbness down my left arm and hand.

I've tried all kinds of straps, and positioning, but no good. I'll put Bendy up on E-bay, all this after I spent a ton of money on new pickups and saddles.

Oh well. If I miss it too much (I suspect I will), perhaps a Hipshot or Kimora style is in my future.

I hate being old and damaged.

IF...
you can do it, try to work up to extreme bending with multi string bends au naturale!

Ever try a Hipshot?
Might be less painful to operate.
I love all kinds of benders, but 'shots are the "bang per buck" winner.

Yup, that's probably my next step.

The Timara Benders are a great non-strap choice. I prefer them greatly over hipshots.

I liked my Hipshot. Seemed very natural to me. Only thing I didn't like about it was having to put the lever on and take it off.
I have a B&W glazer style bender now, never have spent much time playing it.

Another thought is to remove the spring. It's not necessary on most benders if you are playing seated, and the tension is almost nil. Mur and I have both been doing that for years - but on my Evans Pull String I just use the spring adjusted, back the tension all the way off and it puts almost no pressure on my neck or spine (and I'm on disability now because of both).

There should be a way to adapt the bender you have so you don't have to alter your playing style - what type is it?
