As you can see, they're a blowout/clearance deal. I ordered some 'cause for that price, even if i don't like them, no big deal. I was just curious if anyone has tried them, and if so, how do they sound?

Anything in the "Non-GFS OEM Pickups" section should be avoided

+1. But for that price, if you were building a "budget" instrument, it would be hard to lose by trying them.

That was my thinking.. But I will give you guys a chance to steer me in a better direction before I pull the trigger..

I am gonna build a esquire... Is there a better bridge pickup for 40 bucks or less??

I am going to drop most of the money in the build on a nice body, neck and bridge... The pickup I can upgrade later this year when I get my bonus money..

Yes!!! Get yourself a CV 50's Alnico III bridge pup for 25 bucks off ebay. These run right around 9k and can twang or rock. I don't think you can get more bang for the buck than these!

I'm working on my very first partscaster, and as i was perusing gfs i saw those, and figured they were cheap enough to try. they arrived yesterday but i still don't have the guitar near finished enough to put them in. HOWEVER, i just got my CV50 delivered last week and i am just in love with with the sound, but i have the BSB so it's the Alnico V pickups. I didn't think of it before, but now that you mention it i very well might just get those pickups. Thanks!

Vintage output and ceramic magnets all at a bargain price. I'm predicting some pretty thin tone.

And there would be a slightly thinner wallet.

Description says they are "wicked nice" .. well .. they gotta be then ..

Look likely to be functional but rather unexciting pups that were pumped out by the thousands destined for budget guitar orders that didn't materialise - and GFS bought them up.

GFS sell some far better stuff under their own (re)brand name for not much more.

All in all, if I was on a real tight budget I'd rather buy some pulled Squire / MIM pups for maybe even less on ebay.

The guitars didn't sell- so the manufacturer was left with tens of thousands of dollars worth of custom ordered, custom wound pickups-

And now you can get saddled with them for the low low price of $22!

These are nice pickups- ceramic bar magnets, nice warm vintage output- Bridge clock in at a healthy 6.4K and the neck pickup a 50's correct 5.5K.

And a 50's correct ceramic bar magnet, too!
