Thinking of swapping 2011 American Deluxe for 2012 American Standard

I'm thinking of part exchanging my 2011 American Deluxe strat for a 2012 American Standard Strat. I loved my deluxe when I bought it (obviously!!) but being completely honest with myself, the N3 pickups don't give me the sound I want from it. I've thought about changing the pups for others but I don't see the point of making the S-1 switching redundant.

The N3s sound good and ballsy with the S-1 switch on but I just feel they lack something without it. I've got two humbucker equipped guitars to get the more ballsy/mellow sounds already so I don't really want my strat to deliver the same kind of sound.

I like the feel of the deluxe neck, the locking tuners are fantastic and the guitar holds tune very well, but I find the back of the tuners a bit bulky (I know, i'm a tart!)

I really like the charcoal frost colour and the jade pearl colour on the US Standards and from what i'm learning the CS 50s pps in the standard are pretty sweet sounding. I will have to wait until the end of June until I can actually try one of the new standards out unfortunatly, anyone here got anything to say about them??

Part of me thinks i'm stupid for swapping a Deluxe for a standard, but if i'm honest i'm not 100% satisfied with the deluxe - surely it would be better to get the strat that i'm happiest with? Right?

Sorry for rambling on, hopefully some of you can understand what i'm talking about!!

Just went through this myself....loved the compound radius and the general fit and finish of the guitar was just superb. It played better than any strat I've owned. I seriously considered putting vintage style tuners and dropping in a loaded pickguard.
In the end I sold it and bought a Tele to pair with my EJ strat.
Not sure I would have traded mine for a new AmStd. I sold mine for enough to buy one
with some cash left over.
