Tele Neck with Music Man Profile

Hi Guys,

I played a Music Man Silhouette yesterday and absolutely loved the neck on that guitar.

I have the American Special Tele and I find the neck a little wide and the frets a little too large so I'm thinking of changing to a 1 5/8 neck width.

Does anyone know which of the Warmoth necks for tele may give me a similar result as the Music Man necks.

It's the profile and fret size I'm interested in.

I suspect the 59 roundback profile and the 6105 frets may get me close.

Any thoughts or experience from you guys?

Cheers

Sean

Not sure what Warmoth neck is the closest....probably worth calling them and letting them know what you want. There is a thread on the EBMM forums dealing with neck profiles. Lots of information there. Although the profile of the silo, silo spec, sub 1 and albert lee are nearly the same, each neck is hand shaped, so there is variance even from one silhouette to the next. Not huge differences, but they are not exact.

The Music Man Instruments page would give you the fret specs.

Don't forget also that the music man neck has only been treated by 2 coats of very quick tru oil. 45 seconds on, then wiped off. That has a lot to do with how the neck feels when you play it.

(jack has 4 music man guitars)

Thanks Jack,

Yes I spoke to Warmoth and they're not familiar with the MM necks however they did suggest getting the three most important measurements of the neck width at the nut and the depth at the 1st and 12th frets.

With that information the Peavey Wolfgang neck profile seems to be the closest of the Tele necks.

I didn't see any detail fret info on the EBMM site but I'll re check.

The neck on the silhouette felt completely unfinished which seemed a little odd at first but it played real nice.
