Do pots on amps make as significant a difference as they do on a guitar?

Do you mean different values?

Values, caps, manufacturers.

I'd like to add a Q to the mix here, if I can jump on the coattails -- Are they audio or linear taper, typically?

Basically you use the value that the circuit calls for unless you are trying to change the operation of the circuit or you compensate other part values to have the circuit operate the same way. There are better quality manufacturers and there are lesser. Not sure what 'caps' refers to.

Pots can be audio or linear depending on the circuit.

I mean the stuff used on pots that keeps the treble from dropping when you turn down the volume. Capacitors.

Just trying to determine what information you are looking for, started out as pots. Some say capacitors can effect tone, some types are better at some functions than others. As with any other part there are tradeoffs to using one type of part or manufacturer compared to another. The fun is picking the right ones.

My apologies, I meant pot/pot related. I'm not knowledgable about any of it and
I find all the options somewhat overwhelming.
