How difficult is it to replace the speaker in an amp, in my case a super champ XD? I'm really, really mechanically disinclined, but I can usually do things if set to it. No experience working on amps, but I have soldered before, and can work screwdrivers pretty well.
Can I do this myself?

I "upgraded" the speaker in my Mustang II, it was a piece of cake. The stock didn't sound bad, but I was looking for a warmer tone. The Jensen C12N is much warmer, more efficient (louder), and a much wider stage. It about doubled the weight of the speaker!
Good luck.

If you know how nuts and bolts work, you can replace a speaker. Only foreseeable difficulties : if a component of the amp, say a hanging tube, is in the way of the speaker coming straight out ; or if its too tight a squeeze to get a standard wrench in there you may want a socket wrench with a ratcheting mechanism.
