Wampler Black '65 question

After watching countless demoes and reading an endless amount of threads on low gain ods I finally decided to buy a Wampler Black ´65.

It'll get here any day now and I wonder what are your experciences are of stacking this pedals with others?

My current board is tuner - Pigtronix Aria Disnortion (in a tubscreamer-like setting) - EP-booster - Flashback Delay. I'm thinking that the '65 would fit best between disnortion and ep-booster but since I have no experience of stacking pedals I really don't know where to start.

I have used one for a while. Sometimes I use it as an "always on" pedal, then use a Fulldrive 2 for higher gain/crunch sounds. I run the Wampler into the FD2 with the thoughts that I stack into the FD2 rather than the other way around. Not sure if that makes sense but it seems to work. Honestly I haven't tried it A LOT the other way around, but I've been very happy with how I have it now.

Another thing, I RARELY kick on the FD2 and Wampler at the same time. Unless the song I'm playing requires a heavier part instantly and I don't have time to turn off the Wampler and on the FD2.

Just move it around and play a lot, lol.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'll certainly move it around to find the best sounding spot in my rig. Read somewhere that EP-booster after '65 was a good match.

So what's your favorite settings? I find that having a couple of good sounding starting points makes it easier to explore the pedal.

One of my favorite settings is volume, treble, mids, bass: all around 10:30, gain boost on, gain from all the way down to 12:00. I like a clean boost in front of the 65. Tele -> DRRI.

I use it as an end of line tone shaper, so with all the other pedals going into it, it's always "stacked". My favourite pedal.

+1, I used it the same way, and did the same thing with the Tweed '57. Simulates playing through that amp. Typically kept them always on, then added dirt for taste.

I'm getting even more exicited by reading your posts. I hope it'll get here tomorrow. I already use my ep-booster as a tone shaper but it works very well as a booster too.

Got the pedal today. This little box has just left me speechless. I don't know just how to describe it but I can say that this pedal will stay on my board. I've set it to mimick an amp on the verge of break-up and it does this thing extremly well. I use the EP-booster to push it harder and the grin on my face gets wider and wider.

Hats off to Wampler for making this little gem and the minute there is a Faux Tape Echo with tap tempo I will buy it. I'm a Wampler convertite from now on.

I worked tonight and used the '65 quite a bit. I am more impressed with it every time I use it. Great job Mr. Wampler.
