Half pickguards for strats?

Okay, I've seen plenty of teles with half pickguards - the top part beneath the strings cut off to show off more of the colour. But I've never seen a strat like that.

I'm planning a strat build and, on one hand, they don't look quite right to be with no scratchplate at all, but then I don't want to hide too much of the guitar beneath the guard. So I'm thinking of shaping one so that it doesn't surround the pickups.

If I actually had a strat I could just make a half one from paper and see how it looked. But as I don't, does anyone have a pic of a strat with only half a scratchplate (the bottom half, obviously).

Needless to say I'm not necessary expecting an answer to this post.

I've been considering a La Cab-style strat build using a half pickguard. I've never seen one on a strat, though. I imagine it would look cool!

Anytime you mess with a classic its going to look weird. We've been looking at the classic deisgn for nearly 60 years.

just go for it and live with it awhile ... can always put a full one on later and add more screw holes.
