Cleaning an old Boss pot

I have a Boss pedal MIJ with a scratchy pot. Can I clean it with contact cleaner or do I need to replace it? It doesn't affect the tone, just static when I turn the knob.

I'd sure try cleaning it,95% of time that works for me (except on wah pots!)
Worst case scenario is it won't help , then you can worry about replacing it.

Might need to use some contact cleaner / lube though, not just contact cleaner.

Id clean it first and see how that works out.

Contact cleaner seemed to work well. No more scratchy pot sound, but it definitely doesn't turn as smoothly as the other two. Thanks for all of your help.

Try some contact cleaner / lube aka TV tuner cleaner from Radio Shack, that should make the pot turn easier.
