Ed P June 3rd, 2012, 11:58 PM I need someone to tell me (I suppose with a schematic) how I would wire the following.
I have a 500k volume and a 500k tone control controlling a single pickup. I want to add another pickup, but want the switching to be via a volume push/pull pot. Each pickup has only two wires: hot and ground.
So, how would I wire this up?
Thanks!

Jee - you're Johnny-on-the-spot, aren't ya. I'll check it out.
Well, I checked it out. I appreciate the reference, but I'm just looking for a wiring schematic. I can only deal with very simple concepts.

I must sound like a complete idiot, but I couldn't find it on the website. Would tell me specifically which one it is?
Thanks.
garrett June 4th, 2012, 12:55 PM This one will help. You just need one side (pole) of the switch. Ground wires go to the chassis of the pot. Connect the hots to opposite ends of the pole, and connect the middle lug to the input of the volume pot.

Thanks AJ Baker and garrett. Given your info let me see what I can do.
dsutton24 June 4th, 2012, 05:36 PM You won't be able to do this with any push-puil that I know of. With a normal push-puil you get only two positions, so you would get, for example, neck or bridge, but you wouldn't be able to run both pickups at the same time.
You could use two push-pulls, one for the tone and one for the volume. Up on the volume would turn on the neck pickup. Up on the tone would turn on the bridge pickup. Up on both would turn both on, down on both would kill both, etc.
If that's a good solution, let me know and I'll draw it up and post it.

Good Luck
AJBaker June 4th, 2012, 05:41 PM Yeah, what you want shouldn't be too difficult IF you're happy with having only two positions, i.e. pickup A or pickup B, but not both at the same time.
Ed P June 4th, 2012, 05:47 PM What I neglected to say in my original post is that I only want neck or bridge alone, with no combo of both, so if someone could draw me up a schematic of a push/pull that would be great. I'm a real newbie at this, but want to learn more.
Thanks.
