mudbelly June 3rd, 2012, 10:58 PM Some kind of Ventura hollow body. My neighbor found it in a dumpster. No strings, nice neck, bad nut and the pickups seem to work. I think I'll make it into a slide guitar. Easy way might just to put a raised nut on it. Anyone have any info on this type guitar?
bigmuff113 June 3rd, 2012, 11:03 PM Dude, that is AWESOME!!!!!!!! Looks Casinoish
mudbelly June 3rd, 2012, 11:10 PM It's a bolt on neck, took it off and it was shimmed up. I removed the shim but the far end of the neck is still tipped up too much. I'm gonna think about how to fix this. Kind of makes me wonder if it's the original neck.
dannew02 June 3rd, 2012, 11:17 PM Www.vintaxe.com those guys can tell you all about your guitar. I had a Country Gentleman copy that I found out later was a Ventura-made guitar(mine had no logo though) They only put their name on the good guitars, so yours should be fairly nice. Assuming it wasn't in the dumpster for a good reason...
Dwills94 June 3rd, 2012, 11:35 PM well if you're right in your assumption that the pickups work it was a worthwhile find regardless of whether or not the guitar itself is any good.
hekawi June 4th, 2012, 04:53 AM nice rescue. keep us posted on the progress
Mightyaxeman June 4th, 2012, 05:21 AM Does it have a bridge?
TeleTim911 June 4th, 2012, 06:27 AM I've never found a musical instrument in a dumpster. Good find. Hope you can get it fixed up and playable. Looks interesting.
mudbelly June 4th, 2012, 06:58 AM No bridge.
RevMike June 4th, 2012, 08:21 AM Thats cool. One of my buddies found a Univox Mosrite copy in the garbage once.
6942 June 4th, 2012, 11:10 AM Man, I look at that guitar, and I keep thinking....The Black Keys, The Black Keys.
I had similar pick-ups in a pair of '60's Japanese Conrad & Heit Deluxe guitars.
They were low output (3-4K), but sounded pretty good.
Have fun & enjoy!

kidmo June 4th, 2012, 11:17 AM Nice!
Possible bridge replacement here:http://www.guitarfetish.com/Deluxe-Rosewood-Base-ABR-1-Style-Tuneomatic_p_209.html
Telegator June 4th, 2012, 11:35 AM I'd sure like to have found it.
I found a First Act acoustic at the junkyard last week. Action is ok and sounds good enough for my son to claim it as a "campfire" guitar. It does need better tuners and I found a used set on Ebay for $5 that I believe will work.
mistermullens June 4th, 2012, 01:03 PM Why can't I find stuff like that in the garbage. Oh, yeah...I don't rummage through trash. Maybe I should start!
mudbelly June 4th, 2012, 07:07 PM I'll order that bridge, thanks.
