Just picked up the silver flake today. I must say its the highest quality squier I've ever come across. C.I.j., but the quality of this mint 15 year old rare guitar is as good as any American fender I've ever owned. The blue flake is the one I buildt ( not finished) from a couple parts from a friend on another fourum and a pickguard from ebay. Using Photoshop and cad for the templates. Any other s.s. owners out there?

You lucky!!!!!!!!! I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!

Been watching for a good deal for the last three years. I've wanted one since 97 when I saw it in a guitar world magazine.

How much?

I watched one on eBay go for $850 a few months ago. Haven't seen one less than $300 since 09. I traded an mim tele. He had bought it for $150 a year ago. You can get lucky if you keep looking. I was surprised to find this one on my local Craigslist.

Was it hard to do the body? I want to make my own after seeing this thread. Purple sparkle!

I can copy my templates or trace them. Pm me. The Jack plate is hard to find but if you can make your own its the same as a lefty Jaguar. The sparkle is very time consuming. I have a thread on shortscale.org on the build. Also have one on the home depot but its not as detailed. Ill post a link if you'd like.

I also want to do a champagne sparkle for my 11 year old daughter.

I love those silver sparkle Super Sonics! They're great looking guitars! They're rare as rocking horse poo over here. My favourite guitar shop has had a bare body in their workshop for years but refuse to sell it - one of their techs insists he has plans for it!

The heel of the neck is pretty unique. It has an extention under the pickguard that almost touches the neck pickup. I think it could be possible to use a jag or mustang reverse headstock from warmoth. The neck plate is odd too. Pretty cool.

Just checked out your linked shortscale build thread - outstanding work! I'd always wondered how difficult it was to spray a flake finish.

Its not so difficult to spray with the right gear. Buckocaster has a thread here in tele home depo that he does with a flour sifter. Not so bad, just time consuming because of how thick the clear has to be before flat sanding and polishing.
