I'm gassing for a Tele with both, but I'm wondering how they would work together with a p90 in the neck and a TV Jones in the bridge. Independently I think they would work, but I wonder how they would sound together? Anybody tried this? Let me know what you thought.

It should sound good, hoard to tell how they will sound. I have a p90 and a filtertron but in 2 different teles.

I would say one thing you may need to watch our for is that the p90s are usually quite hot pickups and need to be raised quite high to sound their best, so make sure your bridge pickup is not too weak.

maybe consider the higher output ones from tv jones instead of the classic one for a better balance.

worth dropping him an email and asking him.

he must have tried that at some stage..

Yep, what Vinny said. if you have a stock, vintage style filtertron in the bridge, it might get overpowered by a P90 in the neck.

If I were to put something like that together I'd likely use dual concentric pots.

A volume and tone for the tele pickups and a volume and tone for the tron, to get a healthy range of possibilities, including something resembling balance (when/if wanted) when using both pickups together.

I'm in the process of doing this very thing with TVJ pickups. I have high hopes.... we'll see.

I think it'd sound amazing. Get a Powertron for that bridge though.

I'm curious too see how it would look. I like the idea of a Cabronita style pickguard, but the P90 is quite a bit wider than the filtertron. Might not look very good.

If you like a P-90 type tone, a Duncan Phat Cat might be aesthetically pleasing with a Filtertron in the bridge.

Hi folks. I have looked at this forum many times but have just registered after seeing this thread.
I have made a tele with a p90 and a filtertron and in my opinion it works well both in looks and sound. I used a delux tele type scratchplate with a tonerider rebel 90 (humbucker sized) and a gretsch filtertron. To balance the volume the p90 sits lower and the tron close to the strings. I have wired it up so the both pickup on position is back to front so i get a very cutting thin treble tone which is good for early beatle type stuff. I will see if i can upload a picture
