johnnytuinals June 2nd, 2012, 08:15 PM I am wondering how Rare are these guitars?(Graffiti Yellow }
My serial# starts with E9(1989}
Guitar sounds fine with the Gold lace pickups.
Don't really see many talking about these guitars....................JT
tacomamc June 2nd, 2012, 08:25 PM I'm no help here in regards to your question, but I really like your strata.
CoachJM June 2nd, 2012, 08:32 PM Starting in 1987, Fender made a "high end" series of guitars called the Strat Plus, that had gold Lace Sensor pickups, a variety of roller nuts, locking tuners, a TBX tone control and a couple of other features. This was at least partially instigated by some conversations with Jeff Beck who wanted a custom guitar made in the same color as the yellow hot rod from the movie American Graffiti (hence, "Graffiti yellow").
See: http://xhefriguitars.com/page2.html
Yours doesn't look like it has the right night to be an '89 Strat Plus, but if it were, it would fetch an "above average" price.

Zillinois June 2nd, 2012, 08:53 PM pretty rare I'd say...
johnnytuinals June 2nd, 2012, 08:56 PM hummmm I know I bought it in 1989 or 1990 at sam ash for less them $450 new with hardshell case.(they had them new with many colors}......JT
tweeddeluxe June 2nd, 2012, 10:08 PM Dime a dozen. I'll give you two bills for it, two and a half with case.
johnnytuinals June 2nd, 2012, 10:16 PM SOLDDDDDDDDD
Naaaaa I rather let it get dusted up atads since I mostly use 1957,1959 and 1960 Les Paul Jr TVs..........JT
Flakey June 4th, 2012, 02:00 AM I bought one of these new in 1989 at GC. The Strat Plus had the Wilkinson roller nut. The model you have is called the Strat Deluxe which was basically a Start Standard with Gold Lace Sensor pickups. The Strat standard had the traditional pickups. I've seen asking prices for this era in stores go between $800.00-$1,200.00. Remember I said ASKING PRICE.
johnnytuinals June 4th, 2012, 10:07 AM Was never looking to sell the guitar
Just wondering that I don't see many yellow strats................JT
vibrasonic June 4th, 2012, 12:10 PM A little on the rare side, but not that desirable to most players IMHO
synthnut June 14th, 2012, 06:22 PM I bought a Graffiti Yellow Strat also from Sam Ash ...I got in on the very end of that same sale ....so I ended up with one with a Rosewood fretboard ....They were selling them as Strat Plus's but they were not Strat Pluses .....They were American Standard Customs that had Gold Lace Sensor pickups that were used in the Jeff Beck and Clapton Strats .....Same circuitry as the Pluses but no roller nut or locking tuners ......There were only about 400 of the Rosewood necked Graffiti Yellow Strats made ......There were many more Maple necked ones made ....Jim

I'm sorry you're correct they were called Standard Customs:oops:
Axepicker June 17th, 2012, 01:07 PM These are selling recently on eBay for $1,200 - $1,300 or more (one sold very recently, still there for you to check out). Many do not know about the Standard Deluxe and think that it's a standard where the pups where replaced with Lace sensors. I have one with an E 4xxxxx serial and I love it. Graffiti Yellow is available now on custom shop models and they go for over 3 grand. Based on what I see - there is a healthy demand for these.
johnnytuinals July 1st, 2012, 12:37 PM I like my Fender E9 Strat in yellow.
Sounds good too me and I do see many of the other colors but hardly ever
one in Yellow.(I am sure there are many but I hardly ever see them}
I guess the Gold lace pickups are the best in lace pickups?
I am getting used too my 2011 and 2012 american standand Telecasters
and hardly use my Strat...One thing The yellow strat soundsss better when playing spirit in the sky then the telecasters lol....................JT
Racer5 July 1st, 2012, 02:35 PM Rare, but not valuable
Radspin July 1st, 2012, 07:08 PM I would buy a yellow Strat in a second--if I could find one! Been thinking about refinishing a Peavey Raptor I have in Graffiti Yellow...now I'm convinced.
