NGD! American Standard Strat

After a year of agonising over whether to build, buy MIM and upgrade or go for USA, I've finally got myself a Strat. It's a brand new 2010 American Standard, almost spotless considering it's been in the showroom for a while. I got an amazing clearance deal on this and a very satisfactory part-ex on my old SG Special that never got played.

Still got to turn her up and let rip properly, but she's a very fun guitar. Lovely to play, and extremely load and resonant. Oozes quality, the gloss on the fretboard is a bit thick but I'll forgive her for that.

This completes my rather multicultural Fender family (MIA Strat, MIJ Tele and MIM Jazz bass). I must get a picture of those together.

Now I just need to work out if I'm going to change the plastics to black... hmmm...

Thanks guys!

Here are my Fenders together for a family photo. I think they complement each other very well :)

The one thing that's surprised me about the US Strats is the variation in colour on the truss rod plugs. Mine is very light, and I've never seen one in the wild that's as dark as the Fender catalogue. I think a lighter plug suits the maple, though.

I'm really enjoying the Strat. It takes a while to find the sweet spot for different sounds, but I guess it's a side-effect of its versatility. Nearly got the higher-gain settings sussed.

Congrats Matthias, she's a real Beauty! I say go black Pickguard and pup covers/knobs for sure - or better yet swap out those little plastic bottle caps for a classy set of Tele chrome domes! I really am gassing for an AmStand too, but I can't seem to find one I like as much as My CV '50s.
