I was surfing the net over the past few days checking wood prices and doing some shopping for wood. I stumbled upon "curlymaplewood.com" and had a look around. This is NOT a paid endorsement for them just found some real interesting stuff there.
I have been thinking about a Pine caster but wanted something different. How about Birdseye Pine? I had never heard of it and he had a very small amount of it. The main piece is 3/4"x7-1/4"x96". It's on the way to me. I was thinking about resawing and doing a bookmatch top. Will post some pics when it arrives.

I did a thinline out of this piece I found at the local home center. Check out post # 26 and 27.

Guitarbuilder-That is a beautiful guitar and exactly what I am thinking about. What did you make the main part of the body from? How was the tone?
Here's 2 pics of what I bought off their web site. There are 2 pieces, the better of the 2 is the largest. I was thinking of ege joining the smaller piece and trying to make something out of it too. It measures 3/4"x3-1/2"x120"

Actually I see that pine occasionally in the "bargain" pine pile. It's a defect somehow that hasn't driven up the cost of it. :-). The guitar body was sold in the white. The end user finished and assembled it, so I don't know much else about it. The base wood of the thinline was eastern white pine without any birds eyes in it. The interesting thing about the guitar body was that it looked like little faces in it...kind of like they were trapped in it...
