Partscaster is any tele/strat - caster style guit that is made up of parts, basically. It's one you piece together instead of buy stock. A nocaster is a reference to the teles that were built when the tele was going through the process of changing names from broadcaster to telecaster and they didn't put the decal on the headstock; hence "no"caster.

edit: specifically they trimed the "broadcaster" part off of the decal, so it only said Fender.

when people talk about building nocasters or getting a CS nocaster, it's just built to the nocaster sepcs. It's basically a '51 with a little different wiring scheme. I think it had a pretty thick neck, I don't remember if it was with or without a truss rod.
