Hello everyone, I've attempted to shield my Telecaster but it doesn't seem like its gotten any more quiet than before (trying to minimise the 60s hum).
This is what I have done (the tele in this photo is just a photo I found on google):

Have I done something wrong? Confused
Note: I currently dont have a wire going from the bridge to the back of my volume pot.
Cheers,
Paul

In theory if your shielding practically covers the cavity and is grounded, it should do the job. Maybe...
- use a dvm to measure the resistance and check your shielding wire connections
- did you have a noticeable noise source before and is it still bad?
- does anything change when you touch the strings?
- do you have other guitars to compare it to noise wise?
- are you really really close to a computer or amp?
- are these stock pickups or with 3rd wire?

thanks for the reply,

ok, will try that out
- did you have a noticeable noise source before and is it still bad?
yeah i did, after shielding it doesn't seem to have changed
- does anything change when you touch the strings?
same thing when I touch the strings, the noise (hum?) almost completely goes away when I stand in the right position in my room
- do you have other guitars to compare it to noise wise?
I've only got humbucker guitars, but I when i split the coils on one of the humbuckers it isnt as noisy as my tele
- are you really really close to a computer or amp?
hmmm I have a laptop and monitor about 1 meter away from my head and cab
- are these stock pickups or with 3rd wire?
it was used guitar so I cant really tell (I got one of those Japanese made 68 reissues for the anime BECK).
