One door shuts...another opens

After 4 years together, loads of gigs our band threw in the towell yesterday. We'd been sort of on the way out for a while...trying different singers. But we just couldn't get our momentum back. All the guys (except me) had other projects going on as well. So for them, I suppose it wasn't really a big deal. Normally, I would be really sad but.......

Before the bomb was dropped, I got a call from the leader of another local (and way more popular) band inviting me to team up with him. I've played with them on occaision, and they are pretty good. I'm friends with all of them, and....one of the guys in my old band is in that group too. So....looks like things may work out. Fingers crossed!

Fact of the matter is, with a small amount of effort you can find other doors that you didn't even know existed !

It's hard to find the open doors when you are not actually looking for them...

Pack-up your Fender, go out on a bender...

I'm glad cooler heads prevailed with your old band.
Good luck with the new one.

Enjoy the ride.
Its the Journey, not the destination.

One of the best lines EVER on this forum! Mind if I steal it?

BTW, congrats! Sounds like you've got another good thing going.

Hoping this new project gets going. Have a little time in the interim, so been trying to stay busy. Its tough though. I went from working on multiple music projects for the last 8 years (last band for 4 of those years) to zero all of a sudden. I'll be glad to get back to it....I don't know what to do with myself.

I keep going back to the words of Del Paxton in "That Thing You Do" when he tells Guy Patterson "Bands come and go, you gotta keep playing no matter with who."
