Help me pick a headstock logo

Okay, here are my headstock logo ideas for my new partscaster. Can you help me decide?

The first is a Fender-ish logo:

The second is based upon the logo that I designed for my speaker cab:

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c35/ronaldpdavis/RPDB-tele-logo-black.jpg

And the last one splits the difference. An homage to Fender without trying to replicate the "spaghetti":

I'll probably take the "Registered" mark off the first one...

What do you think?

I'd go with number 3, the gold logo. I've seen far too many custom fender fonts, so I'd go with something original.

+1...I dig it

If it's a partscaster, why call it a telecaster? ;) At least to me, RPDB Partscaster sounds good.

I choose the first one solely because I have yet to see my name on the headstock of a guitar! ;)

I don't like the initials in a block. I prefer the name on the headstock. RPDB looks like a radio station.
If you want to use the initials put them in a row and use something like "RPDB Custom Guitars"

I agree. I'd use the name, but look for a font that doesn't scream with fender influence.

Call it a Ronaldcaster or Brandtcaster something .. it's more special than a plain old partscaster. I like the speaker logo and agree that it would look better on a speaker, but it might work on a headstock.. perhaps, smaller and to the right of the text..

Just brainstorming here.

my concern with the block one is getting it to fit on the headstock in a size that is readable. What might be better for that is to get a custom engraved neck plate with that on it. There was a thread not too long ago that discussed these.

I did a neck plate with that logo engraved on it once before, but I'm really looking to do something on the headstock for this one. I'll re-work this one a little tomorrow to see if it looks okay with the letters in a line. I'll also print it to size to see how it reads from a distance, but I don't think that will be much of a problem. I don't really need it to read from across the room anyway, at it's really just for my personal use (I'm not looking to go into building guitars for a living, so I don't need the advertising).

Here's the inline version:

I think I've settled upon a name for it, regardless.

I like this the best so far.. what's it look like overlaid on a tele headstock?

Your last incarnation looks best by far.

I like the last one best, too, but I think you may want
to tweak the large font used for "RPDB". I see how
you used the font to bring out the similarities between
the R, P, D, and B, but for me the font clashes a little
with the tele feeling and with the other fonts on the
logo.

For me, the large font feels a bit hi-tech and inorganic.
It also has a bit of 60's mod or psychedelic feeling.

Sorry for being so vague! Just my personal thoughts;
hope they help.

I was going for the "future of the past" look, or "old hi-fi", or something. I'm very much inspired by logo design of the 40s and 50s.

Here's a mockup of the last one on a headstock:

I know the "gold" is a little too green here. I'll probably have to print 15 different ones before I get it right. I might even go back to black to see how that looks...

Nike makes it look so easy! "Just do sort of a 'swoosh' thing...Okay, who wants an early lunch?"

Better yet:

I think this might be it.

I think the last one in all black looks great, and I also think it "fits" the headstock best.

Keep in mind how the strings/stringtrees will cross the logo. this could mess with your design.

Ya, it looks like the string tree will be in the logo to me.

Nr 1 works best. People that know guitars will get it. The other designs look good, but they really do suit a cab rather than the slender Tele headstock. My 2c :)

The capital letter acronym still looks like a radio station to me... I think a name in some kind of neat looking font would look better and fit on the headstock better.

I know...however, my string tree is a little closer to the nut than most (I used the roller kind, which is a little taller than the normal ones). I imagine that I may have to adjust the logo a little bit, but hopefully not by much.

Thank you all for your input--it helped a lot! I'll post a picture once I get it transferred on.
