There are plates made in Japan for those guitars. Check out E-Bay.

I bought an aftermarket one in a Guitar Center in the States, and it fit--after I sanded it.... The neck heel area took some work, but the screw holes matched up.

I got a pickguard for my MIJ '62 from this company. They also sell on Amazon if you prefer shopping through that store front. Since they're located in Japan, they make their guards based on Japanese Fender products.

The guard fit perfectly... even on the horn which is the biggest difference from US & Mexican Teles. Only one of the mounting holes was a bit off. I just drilled a hole for that one and now it looks fantastic.
