That is a great system (and is what I use). Compared to the old analog systems...well...there is no comparison.

I use it too, as does the bassist in our band. The battery latch is a little wiggy - you just have to manually slide the latch over - many people mistakenly think you just need to press it closed and it snaps into place. If you slide the latch over, it stays put. As for the signal quality - superb.

I just bought one this weekend. That was my first impression...battery latch looks a little suspect. I'll make sure I try your recommendation. I'll probably also put a little plastic zip-tie around it for good measure since I always have those handy at a gig. Some people said the belt clip gizmo is a little unreliable. That part seemed ok to me...but then again I haven't gone into battle with it yet.

+1

And note that wireless means no ground hum because you are not physicaly connected.

+1 on the Relay G30. My bass player tried mine out a couple of times and finally converted to wireless a couple of months ago. It is a very clear sound. As lawdood said, the battery door requires that you manually lock it in place. Otherwise, the best bang for the buck

Upon further review. I did a bit of experimenting with clipping the transmitter onto my guitar strap, belt, and hip pocket. Yeah, that is no way going to cut it at a gig I don't believe. I'll have to engineer/rig-job/stage-tape something for the maiden voyage this weekend.

The Line 6 G30 is fine, but the transmitter beltpack is plastic. The G50 is worth the extra $100, it has a metal housing on the beltpack, a 200 foot range (instead of 100 foot on the G30). These sound very, very good, no different to my ears from a cable. I generally put the transmitter in a neoprene pouch that slides onto my belt, and plug the cable into different guitars as I swap them, you can put individual transmitters on each guitar's strap if you want but that's more complex and expensive. This pouch, costs $12 : http://www.amazon.com/Neotech-7901124-Wireless-Pouch-Medium/dp/B000P4B7C6/ref=pd_cp_MI_1

Wayne mentioned the neoprene pouch which I also use. Before I got that pouch I used a long piece of Velcro like the kind you wrap cables with to secure the transmitter to my strap.

I'm all wrapped up in wireless! I use a Samsom Concert rack-mount two-antenna wireless for my guitar, and my soundman recently purchased Carvin wireless in-ear monitors for our four piece band(yep, one for the drummer that dosen't sing too). I LOVE coming home after a gig without my ears ringing like heck. I can even hear my daughter, or my girlfriend when they talk to me. Wow, what a concept!

Just reporting back in here on my Line 6 G30 experiences. So far, so good...or great even! I did three gigs (probably at least 7 hours of "on" time) without replacing the two AA batteries that it runs on. By the end of the third gig the battery indicator suggested they were getting pretty low. We had two guitar players and by that point in the show my guitar contribution was expendable so I just kept the batteries in there to see what happens when they die...but they didn't.
