Kafka0622 May 27th, 2012, 06:53 PM A few weeks ago I posted this thread about my disappointing experience trying to buy a Martin on Craigslist:
http://www.tdpri.com/forum/acoustic-heaven/325759-ngd-intteruptus-my-first-craigslist-letdown.html
The result of this thread was lots of advice from many of you to either keep saving and looking for a deal for a Martin or to look at other brands which might be just as good for me. I kept saving and also started looking and playing other brands just to see if perhaps my desire for the Martin name across the headstock was driven more by snobbery than by actual function. After playing a lot of acoustics over the last few weeks I came to the conclusion that another guitar sang to me like no other sub $2000 instrument.
So, my desire for high quality acoustic has, i think, finally been satisfied by this guitar which I bought off fellow who plays in a 80s Russian pop music cover band. He is divesting himself of most of his guitars so he can move to Taiwan and gave me an excellent deal on my mint condition beauty.
So... I give you my new Breedlove AC25/SR PLUS. She plays like a dream and is drop dead gorgeous. I couldn't be happier even though she's not a Martin.

Congrats and HNGD to you and me! I've also been saving and could have spent more but the Taylor that I got today spoke to me. It's not snobbery, It's what sounds, feels, and looks best to you, period. I played a ton of acoustics in the last several months and saved enough whereby I could afford 'better'. The Taylor I chose did it for me, no regrets.
She's a beauty, would love to see some better pics of the inlay, gorgeous.

zombywoof May 27th, 2012, 07:51 PM I am having trouble getting past the 80s Russian pop music cover band thing.
Anyway, Congrats Hoss. I have been a fan of Breedlove guitars ever since my favorite little music store started carrying them.
backalleyblues May 27th, 2012, 08:16 PM Congrats, Kafka, you won't be disappointed with the Breedlove, by any means... that guitar is probably every bit as good as a Martin, and should hold its value quite nicely, if you ever decide to sell it.

Guit-jitsu May 27th, 2012, 08:28 PM Looks like you did well! Glad to know the story had a happy ending.
Flemtone May 27th, 2012, 09:25 PM Congrats! Glad you found something that spoke to you.
Breedlove makes a great guitar.
Stubee May 27th, 2012, 11:52 PM Glad for you & enjoy!
ROADMAN May 28th, 2012, 12:30 AM very nice...I love the usefulness of a cutaway but don't like the looks ...the Breedlove soft cutaway would be an exception.....good score ...how does she sound plugged in?
dog fart May 28th, 2012, 10:34 AM without comparing this guitar and the lost Martin side by side, I think you probably came out better off. When you first posted about the CL deadbeat I said that was just sugar in the tea. From where I'm sitting things are looking sweet indeed. Congrats!
rjes May 28th, 2012, 06:54 PM She's a Beauty
telleutelleme May 28th, 2012, 07:16 PM Congrats on a great guitar. I have a Breedlove and love it. Amazing sustain. The Breedlove cases fit their guitars like a glove and are maybe among the best I've ever seen. Russian Pop cover in Austin? Oh well, its a huge music scene.

That case doesn't look like it's even close to fitting like a glove. Nice guitar though, I still want to see pics of the inlay.

Murky May 29th, 2012, 09:33 AM I bought a Breedlove AD200/SM on EBay, thinking it would be a good campfire guitar because the price was low. Surprised me by being in almost new condition with a sturdy Breedlove gig bag. It became one of my favorites until my wife claimed it as hers.
I still grab it occasionally and love the sound of it. Mine is one of their lower-end guitars, so I can only guess that my satisfaction is only a fraction of what yours would be.
Congratulations!
LGOberean May 29th, 2012, 05:13 PM I posted this YouTube vid over in the Breedlove Club thread, but it fits here, as well. This should give us all a taste of the tones Kafka is getting.

Dep May 29th, 2012, 08:21 PM Kafka, I have the same model Breedlove and it's a fantastic guitar. I tried out Martins and Taylors in the price range of this model and didn't find one that spoke to me like the Breedlove.
My son has a Taylor Jumbo that sounds great, but we paid a lot more for it that we did my Breedlove. The two sound great together, though.
