Tele HH 5-way Superswitch + S1 + TBX

Hi guys,

I have an AmSpecial modded with two Gibson pups (490r neck, 500t bridge).
Currently I have a 5-way S-Switch, wired this way.

1) B HB
2) B+N Outer coils
3) B+N HB
4) B+N Inner coils
5) N HB

It's the Fender Strat Blacktop wiring practically.

On my Baja I'm not using the S1 and the TBX so much, so I'm thinking of dropping those into my AmSpec, leaving the Baja with a stardard 4-way wiring.

My question is:
On my AmSpecial, with two HB 4-wire, 1 Super-Switch, 1 S1 pot and a TBX pot, which wirings can I have?

I googled but I didn't find anything with my components.

I like the idea of the Strat-o-Tele wiring or the Strat-X, but those are for SSS guitars and mine is HH.
Ideas?

I play from blues to metal, but I would like to unleash the full possibilities of my beloved Tele.

A super switch and S1 gives you a daunting amount of possibilities. It's best to think of what options you want first, and then figure out how to get there.

Browse phostenix's wiring site for inspiration. You may be able to pull together a combination of his ideas.

Hi guys,

I chose this wiring:

How do I modify it to use a S1 to split the two HB (up 2 HB - down out coils) instead of the push-pull and a standard TBX?

I'm using two Gibson HB.

Thank you!

Why don't I have that version already in my library? :)

I'll make that drawing & post when it's there.

Thank you :D

I'm looking for this configuration:

S1 up
Normal HB
S1 down
Outer coils split

and use the 5-way superswitch as in your diagram, having a normal TBX.

Looking forward for your drawing

I just modified the push-pull drawing I had (that you posted above), which is wired for the outside coil of the neck & the inside coil of the bridge when the pickups are split (not the outside coils of both pups). With Seymour duncan pups, that still gives you hum cancelling in the positions where both pups are on. I'm not sure how the magnets are setup on typical Gibson pups, but I think they are similar to typical S-D pups, where the inside coils have the same magnetic polarity & the outside coils have the same magnetic polarity. If you use the inside coils together or the outside coils together, you lose the hum cancelling effect.

You'll have to translate the wiring colors on my drawing from Seymour Duncan colors to Gibson colors.

Also, if your pups have metal covers, but don't have a separate ground wire to the cover, you will need to mod that like you would a Tele Neck pickup.

Here's the S-1 version drawing:

Ok, I'll use the bridge inner coil as in your wiring then :P

I have a image with the different wire colors, so I can translate from SD to Gibson.

My pups are without metal cover, so no cover grounding!

Only one question:
Can I wire the stock TBX as in your wiring or your mod TBX makes the wiring different?
