I'm looking to replace the neck on a Squier Vintage Modified Tele. I'm looking for a decent Strat neck that won't cost a fortune. I'm seeing many choices, but I'm not knowing where to start. Any recommendations?

Replacement neck Strat or TeleIdahoPicker May 27th, 2012, 03:25 AM I'm looking to replace the neck on a Squier Vintage Modified Tele. I'm looking for a decent Strat neck that won't cost a fortune. I'm seeing many choices, but I'm not knowing where to start. Any recommendations? cjstcustom May 27th, 2012, 08:24 AM I was shopping around too awhile back and ended up going with this one. Totally happy with it. This one has jumbo frets which I prefer, but they do offer the same neck with medium wire too. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Mighty-Mite-MM2928-Stratocaster-Replacement-Neck-with-Maple-Fingerboard-and-Jumbo-Frets-107218471-i1519581.gc hemingway May 27th, 2012, 08:41 AM Be warned, though, Mighty mite necks can have bushing holes of up to 11mm. voodoostation May 27th, 2012, 09:46 AM What do you not like about the one that you have, Picker? IdahoPicker May 30th, 2012, 01:26 AM What do you not like about the one that you have, Picker? The frets are needing a serious working over, requiring me to send the guitar off to Spokane for a couple of weeks (we don't have a qualified luthier in the area). I figured that a replacement would be cheaper. Anyway, I just prefer Strat necks. I've always wanted a Tele with a Strat neck. Blame it on Eric Clapton. ValveFan May 30th, 2012, 03:54 AM Not sure what part of North Idaho you hail from. Red at Sandpoint Music (203 Cedar) can dress your frets for you. I've only had some minor stuff done by him, but it seems like he knows what he's doing. If a new neck is what you are after ebay has gobs of necks. I'm not sure if the neck pocket & hole pattern are the same on Squiers and standard US Fenders. They may be, but I'd find out before you buy. |
