Relic Or Worn Out?

I guess its one of those eye of the beholder things but I love the old classics. The same goes with old cars. One that has been restored to mint condition hasn`t the appeal of the genuine article that has endured the rigors of time. There is a certain warmth or character that comes with age that is (at least to me) indescribable. Take a look at this 68 Tele bass and you will either know what I mean or think I`m crazy:

I was thinking the same thing. Of course, most of us, when we make modifications to an instrument, never figure it will be considered a rare classic in 35 years.
