Chord solo version.
Probably closer the Jeff Beck version than Mingus' original.

Goodbye Porkpie Hatklasaine May 26th, 2012, 04:45 PM Chord solo version. Probably closer the Jeff Beck version than Mingus' original. 8SN_PRrlqzc ScatMan May 27th, 2012, 03:08 AM Nice playing! I'm curious..you're sliding up to an F and playing with vibrato at about 1:07, but it sounds like you're sliding back down to a C, but you aren't. What's going on there? klasaine May 27th, 2012, 04:07 AM I have a pretty long delay on there with 2 full repeats (about 40% wet). You're hearing a C from the previous chord (Gm11) 'repeat' while I hit the high F and both notes (chords) alternate for second. ScatMan May 27th, 2012, 05:00 AM Cool..thanks for the info! That spot where the delay seemed to create a slide down effect..never heard that before.. I learned something new about a delay.. cleanman May 27th, 2012, 07:15 AM Klasaine, Very, very nice. It doesn't hurt that I love this tune. I think you did a good job of capturing the sadness of the piece. I have a tele sized version of the c.c.rider, but the more I hear the full sized the more convinced I am that a new tele is in the future, I'm thinking of a two pick up but neck and middle, no bridge. Would like your thoughts on that idea. Thanks for the music. Larry F May 27th, 2012, 11:09 AM I like how each chord has its own expressive character. The way you project rhythm is very still and isolated, except for the end. klasaine May 27th, 2012, 12:03 PM @Cleanman - neck and middle CCs. Interesting and cool idea. I think Tim Lerch has a 3 CC-pkup Tele that sounds great! You would have no bridge pickup at all? @Scatman - I just got 'lucky' with the delay on that chord. After I slide up to the high F the C from the previous chord along with some finger noise approximates a slide down and then back up. It's cool and I'll never be able to replicate it - lol! @Larry - the 'isolated rhythm' is a by-product of me not being able to play it in tempo (with the way I needed the voicings to speak) all the way through. So I figured since it's a ballad, I can do it rubato(?). |
