chestnut guitar [Archive] - Telecaster Guitar Forum

member "shepherd" was kind enough to post a link concerning elec. guit. tone wood, wherein chestnut was mentioned as being similar to ash in tonal properties and weight.

the only disadvantages i can see to chestnut are:
1. irritating dust when working (no more irritating than many woods, though)
2. knots (which look sort of nice, will they harm tone? add some irrigular character to it due to regions of differing density?)
3. some samples are damaged by a beetle that ravaged the northwest u.s.

has anyone made a guitar of chestnut?
