Now the challenge voting is over I want to spend some more time on my build to get it cosmetically looking better.
Ive heard people talk about a rub out. Can someone please enlighten me on this process.
So far I've got heaps of Coates of nitro on. It's probably being curing for 10 days now. Stew mac says wait 4 days but behlen mentions 21 days. Given I used behlen I'm wondering if I should wait 21 days (sounds like a lot)
Thanks in advance

If you wet sand and polish when the nitro is too fresh you could end up redoing it again a month or so later. As the nitro cures it continues to shrink a little so any sanding scratches or other imperfections you thought you buffed out will reappear again. Better off to wait a month or so or you can assemble and use the guitar now and wet sand and polish in a few months.

My minimum wait time is a month, never less, sometimes more.

Thanks Drak,
Time to start a new project while I wait.

I should have added it in...but that's exactly what we all do!

To meet the challenge deadline I sanded and buffed
lacquer after only 3 days drying time. I was amazed
I had no problems.
Still, why push the envelope? I'm concerned that the
lacquer on my guitar is going to dry and shrink, wrecking
the nice shiny surface.
ps Drak's burst finishes are amazing.

yup. No need to be in a hurry. This applies to every area of guitar building.

I'll do final finishing in 2 weeks.
Concern is if I start a new project I wont finish properly the last one.
Can't do nothing for 2 weeks though.
