NGD- Badwater ElDorado by AXL

Finally got my first "Tele" style guitar and I love it. It doesn't really have that "twang" but it gets close. First mod (and probably the only mod) is going to be a SD Twang Banger at the bridge. The pickups are the same dimensions as strat pickups but don't sound like strat pickups, this guitar certainly has it's own sound.
The finish is great, cracked black paint, and the neck has paint splatter and scorch marks. Looks awesome.
The neck was the nicest surprise. It is a fairly thick and chunky thing, and I wasn't sure that I would like it, had another neck waiting to go on it just in case. Well, i have to admit that for my fingers this is the nicest neck I have ever played, and also the flattest. The radius is 12.5 inches and it is so comfortable it has made me rethink what I felt about necks.
Hardware has a nice aged patina to it and seems good quality. The tuners stay in tune, AXL copies of Grover tuners, but they aren't bad. The bridge is a string-thru hardtail with saddles for each string, not like a tele bridge at all, but the sustain is terrific thanks to that setup. I had to adjust intonation and setup but that was expected, but I can say that I have found no negatives with this guitar. For the money it's an awful lot of guitar.
No, it isn't a Telecaster but it's close, and it's damn fun to play.

I build custom amps loosely based on the EVJ circuit, you can see my vids on youtube, user name is "fullwood13", though the vids are of my first build the new amps sound the same but are all hand soldered turret boards.

I did the mods to the VJ myself using info off sewatt and the now defunct Valve Jnr modders site. Also the Epiphone site too. I did the mods to open up the input, and the pre/post stage, added a Hammond OT, JJ valves and a master volume mod. Oh and the vita mod that allows you to stow away the mains cable.

Thing is, I no longer have the amp, I started gigging in a soul band, whereas the amp was pretty much loud enough, it was just too overdriven. Plus due to recent events I can no longer lift heavy gear, my gigging amp is a ZT Lunchbox.

I would still like to get hold of another little valve combo, I am looking into getting a kit sometime soon and building my own, just for the crack. A nice Champ style one would suit me for home use.
