semi hollow string recommendations

I recently picked up an Aria semi hollow 335 style. It's got 9s on it, but I prefer heavier strings 11s or maybe even 12s. Some reading I've done suggests flat wounds as well. Any suggestions, gang? I prefer D'Addarios on my other machines. Thanks

It's all about feel, to me. 11s feel perfect on a hollow Gretsch with a Bigsby, but I generally like 10s on a semi-hollow, like a 335 style.

I like Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom sets (52,42,30,17,13,10) on my semis.

The only one I own is a Sheraton and I use D'Addario .11's on it. .10's on my Tele's.

Every hollow body 335 style guitar I have owned was immediatly converted to a set of D'Adderio 12's with a wound G string. Being mostly an acoustic player, I find them perfect for Jazz/Blues guitars. Never tried flat wound but people in the Jazz world like them I know. Very dark and mellow is how I have heard them described.

I've always used 12's on my hollowbodies but I've realised that anything from 10's above can give you that jazz punch. 9's, not so much.

Like TaylorPlayer, I use d'Addario 12s with a wound G (EJ-21 set, IIRC) on my 335. These are roundwounds; I've always hated the sound of flatwounds and I don't even use them on my archtop.

Any love here for the Pyramid 312 100 Electric Black Tape Nylon Strings? I was thinking of trying these on my ES335. [Japan Market Epiphone by Gibson]

I use roundwound .010s on my Dot, Starfire Special and Casino. D'addarios are good for semihollowbodies. I don't like nickel wrapped strings on 'bucker equipped guitars. It takes away from the top end.

I use .011 flatwounds on my Joe Pass. They sound dull but not dead. I don't recommend flats unless you are playing jazz or doing Freddie Green-style stuff.

I like XL 10s on everything but my strat which has 11s. I put XL 10s with a wound G on all my Gibsons, 335 included.

When I had my Epi Dot I used D'Addarios Chromes in .010 mostly

I suggest flatwounds D'Addario Chromes,.10 gauge, as well. I use em on my Semi Hollow Les Paul, Kay Archtop, and one of my teles, too. They will also significantly reduce any fret noise if that is a problem. Sometimes it is with semi hollows especially if they have more tendencies for the pickups to sound microphonic and pickup up more body or collateral noise at high volume.

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm thinking strings are cheap, so some experimenting is in order.
