micro mesh smell?

Hey,
I picked up a bunch of micro mesh the other day and it stinks—literally!

Has anyone else had this problem? I haven't used it yet, as I'm not sure if it will transfer the smell, if anyone else has had this experience, etc.

I googled "micro mesh smell" and found a wood working site that says they changed their manufacturing process. Anyone here hear anything?

I've used micro mesh on raw wood in the past with great results, and would love to do the same... But not if I'm going to make a new goncalo alves neck stick up the place.

Has anyone else gotten some smelly micro mesh lately?

thanks,
Randy

I use the small pads for polishing frets and the ones for the random orbit sanders. They do smell, but it hasn't transfered to any guitars.

Seeing as the micromesh removes material from the neck and not the other way around, it should be okay.

I use the micro mesh pads daily on all my guitars that I work on and have never had any smell transferred to any of the guitars.
